My name is Michael Breland. My wife, Katie and I, live in Columbia, Tennessee. I was born in Germany, son to the US Army, and grew up traveling between various military bases as my father changed assignments. After he retired I tried the military life myself but found it unappealing and once out I began my own traveling of the US. I moved to Tennessee 13 years ago, where I found a wonderful countryside and down to earth people.
I am presently a student of Graphic Design, enrolled with the Art Institute Online. I have had previous experience at design work, and have done many freelance jobs, ranging from T-Shirt and Web Design, to Stained Glass design and customized lettering. I have been drawing and creating since I was a child. For the most part, I am self-taught, having taken my influences from various abstract artists, comics I read as a kid, music, Buddhist artistic styles and eastern mandala art. I am interested in both contemporary and classical art. My favorite artists are Alex Grey, Salvador Dali, Michaelangelo and Robert Beer, just to name a few.
I have studied the use of many art and web applications such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, GoLive, ImageReady, Macromedia Flash, Fireworks, and Dreamweaver. I am most proficient with the Adobe programs, as they have become my favorites to use.
